Information Affairs Minister Ali bin Mohammed Al-Romaihi commended the prolific history of the press in Bahrain and Egypt. He underlined the crucial role of the fourth estate as a key partner that contributes to the march of development, enlightenment and Arab culture, fosters the values of peace, tolerance and moderation and engages in combating extremism and terrorism.
This came as he received the Head of the Egyptian Press Union Abdul Mohsen Salama and congratulated him on his election, wishing him success to pursue the historic march of the association which was established in 1941.
The minister hailed the long-standing role of the Egyptian press in championing Arab and Islamic causes, defending Bahrain's Arab identity, security, stability and sovereignty and rejecting any foreign interference in the internal affairs of the Arabian Gulf region.
He reiterated keenness on bolstering cooperation and exchanging expertise with Egyptian press, media and cultural institution in the fields of training, research and studies. He stressed the importance of approving a pan-Arab press charter to ensure Arab paper and electronic newspapers comply with the press deontology, heed accuracy and credibility, anchor the spirit of tolerance and Arab fraternity and reject hostile trends instigating extremism, violence and terrorism.
He stressed the importance of key talks between HM the King and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi on the eve of the Arab Summit in Amman, Jordan. Al-Romaihi stressed HM the King's keenness on strengthening long-standing fraternal relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and Egypt, describing their solid ties as a model to emulate for pan-Arab action.
Head of the Egyptian Press Union Abdul Mohsen Salama welcomed the minister's visit, hailing his keenness on joint press and media cooperation. He reiterated the firm stance of Egypt's political leadership, press and media in support of the measures taken by the Kingdom of Bahrain to maintain its security and stability and pursue its development march and democratic process.
