U.S commander meets with Iraq’s defense minister

U.S Central Region Forces Commander Stephen Townsend arrived Sunday in the Iraqi capital Baghdad. He met with Iraq’s Minister of Defense Erfan Mahmoud Al Heyali to discuss the recent developments in the current battle witnessed in Mousl.
According to a statement issued by Iraq’s Ministry of Defense, they discussed the plans to liberate the right bank of the Iraqi city from the extremists.
U.S General Townsend praised the recent victories achieved by the Iraqi army in Mousl, expressing the international coalition’s support for the Iraqi troops during their current fight against terrorism. He stressed readiness to provide the Iraqi troops with training, weapons and information, saying that they will increase their airstrikes during the coming period.
