Khartoum - Arab Today

The Sudanese-Tunisian talks at the Presidential Palace concluded, Thursday, in Khartoum, after the two sides signed 22 agreements in the fields of economic, political, health, educational and tourism cooperation. These agreements will be implemented between 2017 and 2019. The agreements include the resumption of air traffic between the two countries on 1 September.
"The relations between the two countries can be developed and Sudan and Tunisia have the ingredients for progress," Sudanese First Vice President Bakri Hassan Saleh said in a joint press conference at the presidential palace in Khartoum with his Tunisian counterpart, Youssef al-Shahed. He also called for coordination of positions and joint cooperation to achieve the interests of the two countries.
Saleh pointed out that the visit of the Tunisian delegation at the level of the Prime Minister, accompanied by businesspersons, is a strong guide that reflects a genuine desire to develop relations.
For his part, Tunisian Prime Minister Dr. Yousef al-Shahid, announced the return of air traffic between the two countries in September, adding that there is a new Tunisia, new democratic institutions and new international relations. He stressed that his country will open up to the Arab and African countries during the coming period and will communicate with its partners.
On the other hand, Ambassador of Sudan to Tunisia, al-Abied Mrouh said in a press statement that these agreements included the various executive programs signed by the two countries in the past, stressing the desire of the parties to implement these programs.
The agreements between the Sudan and Tunisia included the livestock sector, agriculture, industry, air transport services, maritime navigation and commercial sea ports. The two parties concluded a framework agreement in the areas of housing, reconstruction and land preparation, a technical agreement in the field of real estate and a memorandum of understanding on customs cooperation between the two countries.
