Islamic Counter-terror Alliance Commander General Raheel Sharif received Bahrain Centre for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (DERASAT) Board of Trustees’ Chairman Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa, official spokesmen of Bahrain International Defence Exhibition and Conference (BIDEC 2017) and head of the conference organizing committee.
DERASAT Chief highlighted ongoing preparations for the first edition (BIDEC 2017) which will be held on October 16-18, under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, the Supreme Commander.
He stressed Bahrain’s firm stance regarding the crucial importance of supporting the pan-Islamic military alliance, led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to combat the scourge of terrorism and dry up terror financing sources.
He described the pan-Islamic coalition as one the key partners of the Middle Eastern military alliances conference, which focuses on regional challenges.
“The Kingdom of Bahrain takes pride in being part of the Islamic Alliance”, he said, stressing the importance of confronting all terrorist groups and backing the endeavor through specialized conferences and other events.
He underlined the fundamental role of think tanks and other parties in spreading moderate religious discourse and disseminating genuine Islamic values, in tandem with other efforts aimed at consolidating security and stability.
General Sharif hailed Bahrain’s efforts, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, the Supreme Commander, to support the pan-Islamic Alliance for combating terrorism.
General Sharif will be the keynote speaker at the opening session of the conference on military alliances in the Middle East.
The conference will mark his first official appearance even since he was appointed as military commander of the Islamic Alliance for combating terrorism.
(DERASAT) Board of Trustees’ Chairman Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa also met Islamic Alliance secretary-general Lieutenant-General Abdulilah bin Othman Al-Saleh and discussed preparations to host BIDEC 2017.
He also met Colonel Turki bin Saleh Al-Malki, official spokesman of the Saudi-led Coalition for supporting legitimate government in Yemen.
