CITC Gov. Abdulaziz Salem Al-Rwais paid a visit to Mobily’s data center at Al Malaga, Riyadh and Bayant Co, a Mobily subsidiary. The visit took place on April 18.
The governor, who was accompanied by a high-level delegation, was briefed on the latest advanced technologies adopted by Mobily to establish its data centers around the Kingdom. He was also enlightened about the centers’ contribution to the Saudi Vision 2030.
The governor was all praise for Mobily’s data centers and stressed on the importance of providing advanced technologies that support the National Transformation Program and Vision 2030.
Al-Rwais was received by Sulaiman Al-Gwaiz, chairman of Mobily’s board of directors; Ahmed Aboudoma, chief executive of Mobily; Aqeel Al-Aqeel, Bayanat general manager; and other Mobily executives.
The governor toured the various departments and was briefed about the services provided.
The data center at Al Malaga is considered to be No.1 in Asia and Middle East and ranks tenth internationally.
This center holds Tier IV classification from Uptime Organization, which is the highest international organization in the evaluation of data centers.
Aboudoma said: “Mobily owns the biggest system of data and technology centers in the region, and the company owns 58 synchronized centers all over the Kingdom, which guarantee continuous operational service to all Mobily subscribers. These centers provide unprecedented advanced technologies such as: hosting big data, cloud computing, managed services and IoT. These specific technologies are the required infrastructure for smart cities transformation in line with Saudi Vision 2030.”
He added: “We are proud and pleased to be a contributor in this technical transformation, which is the government’s aspiration.”
The governor was briefed on how data centers support Mobily’s infrastructure and its government and private business sector subscribers, in relation to billing services, customer service, operating systems, cloud computing services, managed services, and data hosting.
During the visit, Mobily officials discussed with Al-Rwais a number of issues regarding the telecom and IT sector, and the company’s ambitions to develop the sector in the region.
