Manama - Arab Today

Works Affairs Undersecretary of the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ahmed Al Khayyat received a delegation from the Malaysian Sirim Berhad Organisation.

The visit complements the organisation’s efforts to enhance collaboration with the Ministry, which is also part of the memorandum of understanding signed between the two nations in 2015. Following the signing of the memo, the organisation established an office that represents them in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

During the meeting, the Administrative Manager of the organization Mohammed Azanuldein and the Works Affairs Undersecretary referred to the Kingdom’s activities in fields like testing, quality, accreditation certificates and specifications and standards related to the construction sector.

Al Khayyat stressed that, since the signing of the memorandum, the Ministry adopts conformity certificates for products generated by the organization, whose services cover many counties in East Asia. The Ministry is looking forward to further collaboration with the organization in fields like testing and research in the construction sector.

The organisation is owned by the Malaysian Government, and is specialising in research and development, calibration and quality affairs. It serves various sectors in Malaysia and motivates industrial development through holding programmes in technology development standards verification. The organisation owns a number of specialised laboratories in various fields.

The meeting was attended by the Assistant Undersecretary for Technical Services Ebrahim Al Hawaj and Materials Engineering Director Sameer Affouni.
