Rio Olympics bronze medallist Sakshi Malik was honored by the GCC-based Shifa al Jazeera Medical Group with gold medal for her stupendous performance at the recent Games.
Freestyle wrestler Malik is the first Indian woman to win an Olympic medal in wrestling as she pulled off a sensational 8-5 victory to clinch the bronze in 58-kg category at Rio Olympics.
At a function held at Sakshi’s house in Rohtak village of Haryana the super girl of India was awarded with 10 sovereigns worth of gold and certificate.
Usha Karumathil, principal of Aura Edify School Perinthalmanna, gave away the award to Malik on the behalf of Shifa Al Jazeera Medical Group Chairman Dr. KT Rabeeulla. Sakshi’s parents Mr. Sukhbir Malik and Mrs. Sudesh Malik, her brother Sachin Malik, KPM Sakkeer, KT Abdul Haque Thirurngadi, both from Shifa Al Jazeera Medical Group, Malayalam News Editor Musafir Elamkulath, and AT Yousafali of Delhi Center for Physics of Space and Time attended the function.
While expressing her gratitude to Shifa Al Jazeera Medical Group and its chairman Dr. KT Rabeeh for encouraging sportspersons, Sindhu said she is wishing to visit Kerala and disclosed that she met Tintu Luka, Indian track and field athlete at Rio.
P.V. Sindhu and Sakshi Malik were the India’s heroines who did their country proud by winning Olympic silver and bronze in badminton and wrestling respectively at Rio Olympics. PV Sindhu was honored by the Shifa al Jazeera Medical Group with gold medal recently at function held at Gopichand Nimmagadda Prasad Badminton Academy in Hyderabad.
