On the 4th anniversary of June 30 events, President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi said on Friday that June 30 Revolution embraced three courses since 2013, pledging to pursue efforts of counter-terrorism and development.

In a televised speech on Friday, Sisi said that the first course Egypt has taken after the 30 June Revolution was counter-terrorism through rejection to the fascist regime, which trades in the name of the religion.

On June 30, 2013, mass protests staged against the former President Mohamed Morsi nationwide, calling for his ouster. Three days later, a national group formed by political, religious and military powers agreed to oust Morsi if he had not met the people’s demands.

President Sisi added that Egypt has also faced the repercussions of fighting terrorism as many police and military personnel were killed during fighting terrorism.

“Four year after (June 30), we have seen the great sacrifices made by the sons of the Egyptians from the armed forces and the police, to whom we pay tribute and respect. We renew our pledge to continue our just and honorable struggle,” Sisi said.

The second course boils down to facing the threats of countries that support terrorism and terror groups, Sisi continued, adding that June 30 Revolution is a start for Egypt to reclaims its regional role to combat those countries.

Egypt, along with Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Bahrain, have severed their ties with Qatar over accusations of “supporting terrorist groups.” The Four countries imposed sanction on the tiny county, asking for 13 demands to lift the sanctions.

Meanwhile, the third course Egypt has taken was adopting development strategies politically and economically, the president said.

“At the political level, we have declared and implemented a political roadmap, in which the constitutional institutions of the state have been completed,” Sisi said, “on the economic and development level, major projects have been launched across Egypt. An ambitious and serious economic reform program has been launched…to address its long-standing problems and economic crises.”

Sisi pledged to pursue the same course, saying “we must look proudly at what we have achieved and what is being achieved every day.”
