International Coalition, led by the U.S, launched 24 air raids against ISIS strongholds in both Iraq and Syria during the recent 24 hours, including nine raids on Mousl and 15 on Syria’s Raqq, Shadadi, and Deir Al Zour.
The air raids destroyed ISIS leadership building in Mousl, while the Iraqi forces managed to prevent an attempt to explode the Great Dam in Diyala province. Sources revealed, “The International Coalition’s fighter jets bombarded ISIS leadership building upon accurate intelligence information.”
According to the sources, the raids led to the killing of a number of the group’s senior leaders and the injury of others.”
In the same context, Popular Mobilization Forces resumed attacks against ISIS militants in Telaffar destroying over 11 wheels and eight car bombs. They also killed a number militants during their attempt to escape through the Iraqi-Syrian borders. It added that the forces resume the clashes against the extremist elements during the current period in cooperation with the Iraqi fighter jets.
Sources said that the extremist elements loyal to ISIS work currently to find the opportunity to escape from the Iraqi territories to Syria and to dissolve the current siege imposed by the Iraqi forces against the members of the group.
On the other hand, Iraqi security forces managed to prevent extremists from bombing the Great Dam in Diyala province, to cut the supplying line from the province to the troops operating in Salah Al Din province. Sources revealed that the Iraqi security managed to arrest three ISIS elements during a pre-emptive operation before exploding the dam.
Leading member of Anbar Popular Crowd Abdullah Al Geghify revealed that ISIS imprisons dozens of families, including women and children at Rayhana district, calling the Iraqi forces for moving to save them as soon as possible. He added that the imprisoned families launched appeals to Prime Minister Haidar Al Abadi to provide safe passages to them to save them from the grip of the extremist militia.
On the other hand, UN Representative Jan Kubiš condemned the bombing that targeted Baghdad’s Biya district which led to the killing of over 45 persons and the injury of 49 others. He said, in a press statement, “The extremists resume committing the massacres against the innocent civilians.”
