Iraqi parliamentarian Hanan Al Fatlawy raised a number of questions to Chairperson of Integrity Committee Hassan Al Yasseri over the issues related to Iraqi Ministry of Defense, the investigation conducted over the licenses granted to "On Oil" company and the measures taken to cancel the economic committees in the political parties.
Yasseri stressed his keenness to attend the parliamentary session despite his refusal to give any response to the questions raised by the parliamentarian, saying that his committee works to keep the secrecy of its investigations as judicial authority. He revealed that they decided over 18 thousand cases during 2016 and referred over two thousand defendants to judiciary.
He added that they considered the cases related to the violations witnessed in the contracts concluded by the Ministry of Defense with Samsung to establish a communications company and the contract concluded with Bulgaria to import machine guns. He added that they received complaints over corruption in the deals conducted by a number of oil company, saying that they formed a committee to inspect the company's headquarters in Baghdad.
He underlined the challenges that faced the investigative committees they formed from the economic committees related to the political parties. He added that they submitted a formal request to the Iraqi government to cancel these committees in the framework of the amendment of political parties law.
On her hand, Fatlawy criticized the judicial committee saying that it has not taken the serious measures against those officials who involved in corruption. She also refused the call adopted by Yasseri to cancel the economic committees related to the political parties, saying they have no right to submit such a demand.
She refuted the claim that the committee has the judicial authority regarding the cases it investigates, stressing that it is authorized by the judiciary to conduct the investigation and inspection. She added that the case of the Iraqi oil company is still considered by the court to take the necessary measures, stressing that the committee has no authority to take any measures in this regard.
