Tunisian security units managed to dissolve a new terrorist group related to the so-called “Hazmieh Band in the Levant” that was established in Tunisia in 2016 by the followers of extremist leader Abu Jaffar Al Hatab. According to sources, the group was formed in the Tunisian State of Sousse, while it had cells in Sfax and Qafoor in addition to other Tunisian cities.
The sources added that the members of the group, merging between 18 to 35, adopt extremist ideas, saying that most of them have been arrested before in crimes against honor, as they were releasing their beards to hide the violations they committed.
The investgations revealed that anonymous pasted, on Friday, posters called for etablishing Islamic Caliphate in the area of Sidi Omar Buhajla. After the investgations, During the security operations at the metro station in Manouba, security forces arrested extremist element charges of pasting posters belonging to Hizb ut-Tahrir.
The security authorities referred the defendant to the national unity to combat terrorism for investigations.
In the same context, police carried out large-scale security operations in Manouba, Soukra, Ariana and Tadamon district. During the security operations at the metro station in Manouba, security forces arrested three people on charges of pasting posters belonging to Hizb ut-Tahrir.
The detainees confessed taht they pasted these posters at night to avoid seeing them by the citizens. They also admitted that they had pasted these posters in preparation for the party conference next month, refusing to give informations and date of the conference.
