H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister for Tolerance, and Sheikh Abdallah bin Bayyah, President of the Forum for Promoting Peace in Muslim Societies, yesterday honoured the "Egyptian Family House" initiative, the winner of the Al Hassan bin Ali International Peace Award 2017, as part of the activities of the 4th Forum for Promoting Peace in Muslim Societies.
The award was received by Dr. Mahmoud Hamdi Zaqzouq, Secretary-General of the Egyptian Family House Initiative, and Bishop Armia, Assistant Secretary-General of the Initiative.
During the ceremony, which was attended by many intellectuals, scholars and representatives of various religions, Sheikh bin Bayyah stressed that this noble gesture represents the culture of tolerance, peace and compassion established by the founding leader, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
Dr. Zaqzouq thanked the UAE and its wise leadership for the award while noting its importance in promoting the ethics of the divine religions.
Over 700 of the world’s leading Islamic scholars, academics, intellectuals and researchers attended the fourth ‘Forum for Promoting Peace in Muslim Societies’, which was held this year in Abu Dhabi from 11th to 13th December under the theme "World peace and Fear of Islam"
