DUBAI - Arab Today

Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince, on Thursday visited Dubai Police’s headquarters.

Shaikh Hamdan was accompanied by Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai. Upon their arrival, they were received by Lt-General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, Deputy Chief of Police and General Security in Dubai, Major-General Abdullah Khalifa Al Merri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, and a number of senior officials and directors.

Shaikh Hamdan visited the Dubai Police call centre, where he was briefed on the advanced equipment used to communicate with the public. He also listened to calls received by the centre through the Dardasha service, which benefited around 45,000 people in 2016.

Shaikh Hamdan was then briefed by Maj-Gen Al Merri about the goals of the unified number initiative, 901, which receives calls regarding cases that aren’t urgent. In 2016, the centre was able to achieve an unprecedented rate of more than 95 per cent in customer satisfaction.

Shaikh Hamdan then toured a number of sections, and spoke with a number of officers. He congratulated them on the massive achievements of Dubai Police and its various departments, which made it among the best police directorates regionally and globally.

Shaikh Hamdan emphasised the importance of development in various departments, methods and the process for training cadres. He also underlined the importance of providing the necessary resources for development and innovation, so that Dubai Police can remain outstanding as a reference in regional and international arenas.

He reaffirmed the high standards of Dubai Police’s leadership, officers and staff in the field of training, knowledge, discipline and diligence, as they work around the clock to ensure the safety and security of society and its public and private properties.

Shaikh Hamdan congratulated all Dubai Police officers on Maj-Gen Al Merri being selected as their new leader, who he described as a young national leader who has gained experience and knowledge in the field of law when he worked as an officer in Dubai Police’s ranks
