H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, visited several administrative and service projects in Al Hamriya area on Sunday.
He began by visiting the premises of Al –Hamriyah Cooperative Association for Fishermen and met with the organisation’s board of the directors, congratulating them for establishing the organisation, which contributes to supporting fishermen and assisting their businesses.
During the meeting, they discussed several issues of concern to fishermen, including the size and diversity of the nation’s fishing stock, the effects of natural factors and human pollutants on maritime wealth, and the procedures and policies that regulate maritime fishing.
H.H. Sheikh Sultan added that he will soon meet with farmers, fishermen and cattle breeders to discuss their needs and help them to overcome all obstacles they face, as well as issue laws and resolutions that will enable them to live a good life and secure their futures. He noted that these professions were among the people’s first ancestral professions, and should be preserved.
He also received a memorial trophy during the meeting from Saif bin Ali bin Samha Al Sayed, Chairman of Al Hamriya Co-operative Association for Fishermen, and other members of the organisation, in appreciation for his major role in supporting the organisation and its activities, as well as fishermen in general.
Sheikh Sultan then visited the Hamriya Co-operative Organisation’s Cooling Factory, where he was introduced to new equipment currently in use, and the factory’s overall operations that handle the needs of fishermen and fish markets. He also visited the port used by the boats from the factory.
He ended the tour with a visit to the fish, vegetable and meat market in Al Hamriya area, where he was briefed about the achievements of the market.
