Advisor to the Palestinian President for Youth, Maamoon Sweidan said that U.S President Donald Trump defied the international community and legitimacy through his decision to turn the American embassy from Tel Aviv to Israel. He warned of the repercussions of such a decision not only on the peace process but also on the different regional issues.
He added that the American position represents a war against the Palestinian people and the Arabs as a whole, and the position of Trump and his administration is an aggression on freedom and justice and the Palestinian. He stressed that it will lead to tension in the region and a threat to international peace and security.
He added that the American administration has stepped out of the role of mediator in the peace process in the role of bias and adopting the extreme right-wing position.
He added that the main problem is that the status quo has been violated. This can lead to a braking and so sluggishly moving political process for the demarcation of the two peoples in the Middle East.
In addition, he continued, the diplomatic efforts undertaken by the mediating countries in the settlement of the Israeli-Muslim conflict can be stalled.
“ In my opinion, in this Trump made a very inexcusable tactical mistake. Therefore now it will be much more difficult for the United States to act as an intermediary and de facto help in reconciliation of the Israeli and Palestinian people," he said
He stressed that US President Donald Trump's decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel will lead to a halt in the settlement of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
