Lebanese President Meets Italian Defense Minister

Lebanese President Michel Aoun on Monday met Italian Defense Minister Roberta Pinotti, currently on a visit to Lebanon.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed aspects of bilateral cooperation on all fronts in addition to the role of Italian forces in UNIFIL in order to achieve security and stability and implement Security Council Resolution 1701.
In August 2006, the Security Council had adopted Resolution 1701, which called for a complete cessation of fighting in Lebanon and demanded Israel to immediately end its military offensive operations and withdraw its troops from South Lebanon.
