Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn held a meeting with Egyptian Ambassador in Addis Ababa Abu Bakr Hefny and discussed developments of bilateral relations and proposals for promoting cooperation between Egypt and Ethiopia.
During the meeting held at the Ethiopian premier's office in Addis Ababa, Hefny underlined the importance of continuing efforts for cementing ties between the two countries in line with the accord declared by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and the Ethiopian prime minister during their latest meetings.
The ambassador noted that this accord would support building trust and cooperation between Egypt and Ethiopia and serve the interests of the two peoples, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a Saturday statement.
Meanwhile, Desalegn asserted Ethiopia's keenness to foster relations with Egypt.
He further underscored the importance of boosting investments and trade as well as promoting institutional cooperation between Cairo and Addis Ababa.
Hefny said the meeting also touched on the latest preparations for holding the Egyptian-Ethiopian joint committee, to convene in Cairo under the theme "Developing investment, trade relations between Egypt and Ethiopia".
The committee meetings are to be chaired by the Egyptian president and the Ethiopian prime minister, the Egyptian diplomat added.
