Abu Dhabi Global Market, ADGM, has hosted senior management and members of the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce, ICC Court, for their visit and meeting with the legal community in the UAE.
The meeting was also meant to commemorate the partnership between ICC Court and ADGM for the establishment of ICC Court’s Middle East Representative Office in ADGM and the new ADGM Arbitration Centre on Al Maryah Island by early 2018.
More than 200 distinguished guests, including global members of the ICC Court, arbitrators, leading legal professionals, business executives and financial leaders, attended the event at ADGM Authorities Building at Al Maryah Island, Abu Dhabi’s Financial Free Zone.
Alexis Mourre, President, ICC Court, said, "The Emirates is a major hub of ICC arbitrations. ICC Court’s opening in Abu Dhabi is the last move in a longstanding effort to increase our global reach. Our new presence at ADGM and Abu Dhabi will bring us closer to our users in this region and further enhance the quality and attraction of ICC arbitration. We will continue in the years to come to improve our services in order to offer quality, efficiency and the highest level of ethics to our users."
Linda Fitz-Alan, Registrar and Chief Executive of ADGM Courts, said, "We were delighted to have members of the ICC Court join us in Abu Dhabi to discuss and mark the start of our long-term engagement. With the ICC Court’s long-standing and highly respected reputation as the benchmark for international dispute resolution and ADGM’s commitment to having a strong global presence in dispute resolution, ADGM looks forward to responding to the needs of the arbitration users in this region and to supporting the business and investment community of Abu Dhabi and the whole of the UAE."
