Russia and Egypt agreed in general upon the final version of the aviation security protocol making possible to resume air traffic for two countries and date and venue for the document signing are the only pending issues, Russian Transport Minister Maxim Sokolov told reporters.
"It [the Egyptian party] has not yet merely identified the date, the venue and time for signature of this agreement, while all the issues have been agreed," Sokolov, quoted by Tass news agency, said.
Russian Government approved the aviation security protocol between Moscow and Cairo prepared by the Russian Transport Ministry.
No specific time frame for resumption of air traffic with Egypt has been identified so far.
Russia and Egypt have been holding talks on resuming the air service since late 2015. The flights were suspended in the aftermath of the Russian A321 flight crash in the Sinai on October 31, 2015.
