The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday welcomed the resumption by the Swedish government of its development assistance to the Sudan through SIDA, and the agreement on an executive programme for implementation of development cooperation covering the period 2017-2020, at a cost of 126 million Euros.
The Directors General for the European Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Mohamed Issa Aidam, commended, following a meeting with the ambassador Hans Henrique of Sweden, the continued development in relations between the Sudan and Sweden and referred to the outcome of the meetings of the political consultation committee, which met in Stockholm in November last year.
The meeting reviewed the future programme including the exchange of visit at the ministerial and private sector levels, as well as the organization of the Sudanese Swedish economic forum, in Sweden
The Director of the European and American Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has commended the efforts exerted by the Swedish ambassadors in the Sudan and also expressed his condolences to the Swedish people and government over the recent terrorist attacks that occurred in Stockholm
On his part the Swedish ambassador has commended the efforts deployed to boost cooperation between the two countries, stressing the need to continue world for the betterment of the relation and boosting coordination on issues of mutual concern.
He said the various government bodies in the Sudan would cooperate with the Swedish Agency for implementation of the programme in the best possible manner. He also referred to the upcoming visit by a number of Swedish businessmen to the Sudan and the efforts underway for holding the economic forum in Stockholm and the cooperation between the two sides in the area of heal and the issues related to illegal migration and human trafficking.
