German Ambassador in Cairo Julius Georg Luy pledged his country's full support for the Egyptian leadership in light of the recent economic reform measures.
At a press conference on Wednesday at the end of his tour of four Upper Egyptian governorates, ambassador Luy hoped the Egyptian economy would achieve the desired success.
He also hoped that the Egyptian government would take other steps to reduce bureaucracy, back small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and carry out major projects to shore up the Egyptian economy and lure a large number of investors.
Egypt has a huge potential and promising capabilities that should be employed to the greatest possible advantage, the diplomat said.
Cooperation between Egypt and Germany involve the implementation of long-term projects at a total cost of 6 billion euros, he added.
Some projects are being carried out in Egypt in cooperation with the European Union, including two wind farms in Zafarana and Jabal El Zait, he said.
As for the German cultural week that was launched Saturday in the four Upper Egyptian governorates of Luxor, Qena, Sohag and Minya, Luy said that he is satisfied with the outcome of the event .
In early statements, the German diplomat said the event, which will end on Wednesday, aims at promoting Egyptian-German cultural cooperation in these governorates.
Luy opened a number of projects carried out by Cairo and Berlin in Upper Egypt.
He attended a concert by famous Egyptian singer Aida el Ayoubi in Luxor.
The diplomat also visited Qena Company for Water and Wastewater and opened a library in the governorate.
In Minya, he opened a German department and a library at the Faculty of Alsun, Minya University.
