Bahrain will tomorrow – Wednesday – mark the Arab City Day, which falls annually on March15. The 2017 edition is being held this year under the theme: “50 Years in serving cities towards sustainable development”.
Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf seized the pan–Arab occasion to highlight Bahrain’s sustainable development.
He underlined the tangible progress of Arab towns on the path to achieving sustainable development in all fields, commending the crucial role of the Arab Towns Organisation (ATO) and its affiliate institutions.
He cited particularly the Arab Fund for Town Development, the Arab Institution for Town Development, the ATO Award, the Environment Centre for Arab Towns, the Heritage Institutions and Arab Heritage Towns.
He reiterated the directives of the wise leadership to consolidate cooperation with the Arab Towns Organisation (ATO) and benefit from the expertise of Arab cities in the field of urban sustainable development.
