Kuwaiti Emir Shaikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Sabah discussed boosting bilateral ties with his Egyptian counterpart, Abdul Fattah Al Sissi, on Sunday.
The two leaders discussed boosting cooperation in various sectors.
Al Sissi, who was accompanied by a high-level delegation, also met with Prime Minister Shaikh Jaber Al Mubarak Al Sabah, First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Shaikh Sabah Al Khalid Al Sabah and other senior Kuwaiti officials.
The meeting came after the Egyptian leader visited both Saudi Arabia and the UAE last week.
Al Sissi’s UAE visit came 24 hours after the UAE brokered a meeting between Fayez Al Sarraj, head of Libya’s United Nations-backed Government of National Accord (GNA), and military strongman Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, who refuses to recognise the GNA.
Al Sissi, who was accompanied by Egypt’s foreign and investment ministers on his two-day visit, met with His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, for talks on cooperation and the crises in Yemen, Syria and Libya.
In Saudi Arabia, Al Sissi met King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz and discussed ways to boost cooperation in the fight against terrorism.
Al Sissi met Salman on the sidelines of an Arab League summit in Jordan last month to break the ice after months of apparent tensions between the two allies.
Egypt has received more than $20 billion (Dh73 billion) in aid from Gulf countries that supported the overthrow of Al Sissi’s Islamist predecessor Mohammad Mursi.
