Libyan coast guards saved 120 illegal immigrants from drowning off the Libyan city of Zawiya, west of Tripoli, the Libyan navy spokesman Ayoub Qassem said on Thursday.
During a night patrol, coast guards saw the boat which was carrying illegal immigrants of various African nationalities.
Approaching the boat, the guards found out that water was leaking into the vessel, the spokesman said.
The illegal immigrants were swiftly moved to naval vessels and handed over to the agency in charge of combating illegal immigration.
