Saudi Arabia executes drug smuggler

Saudi Arabia executed a Saudi national on Monday, who had been convicted of smuggling a large quantity of amphetamine pills into the Kingdom.
In a statement released today, the Ministry of Interior said that Saud bin Naif bin Mofleh Al-Shammari was executed in the Eastern Region for smuggling the narcotics, the Saudi Press Agency, SPA, reported.
The ministry added that following his conviction by the General Court, the sentence was endorsed by the Appeal and Supreme Courts, and a Royal Order was issued to carry out the execution.
The Ministry of Interior reaffirmed its keenness to continue combatting the circulation of narcotics, due to the great harm they inflict on individuals and society, warning anyone who tries to commit similar crimes to be punished according to Sharia Law, added SPA.
