Syrian actor Jamal Soliman has urged Egypt to throw its weight behind international efforts to resume Syrian peace negotiations.
Soliman said a delegation of the Syrian opposition had officially asked Egypt to exercise pressure at the UN Security Council and other international gatherings to restore the peace talks.
Soliman was part of a Syrian opposition delegation that met with Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry earlier Tuesday.
The meeting also took up the humanitarian situation in Syria and the armed conflict there, the actor said in statements.
He said the delegation also thanked Shoukry for efforts exerted by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry to deliver aid to besieged cities and towns in Syria.
As Syrian opposition, Soliman and other delegates believe a military solution in Syria won't solve the crisis. There must be political dialogue and transition, Soliman stressed.
