The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, TRA, through the Eve Committee, has organised a workshop on ‘Work Etiquette’ for its female employees, where basic information was provided on how to act in many situations in the work environment. At the beginning of the workshop, a brief explanation was provided on the concept of etiquette and the code of conduct with others to make a good impression that reflects a distinctive image of the entity the employee works in.

Issues raised in the workshop included the definition of etiquette rules among colleagues, especially in open-space offices, in addition to duties when receiving guests in the office, meetings etiquette, phone calls at work, international courtesies, handshakes, and respecting appointments. The workshop also focused on the importance of choosing the appropriate outfits for work, the guest distribution protocols during official meetings, and agreements signing protocols.

Commenting on the activity, Ahlam Al Feel, Director Corporate Communication Department and the Chairwoman of the Eve Committee, said, "Organising this workshop comes within the framework of TRA’s tireless efforts to support and develop employees’ skills to be the best UAE ambassadors during all conferences and meetings they attend. It also comes in line with the UAE’s leadership vision to be among the best countries in all working areas by 2021."

Mrs. Al Feel added, "This workshop has another dimension in terms of the work environment, concerning the way to behave and cooperate with colleagues in a stress-reducing and positive manner, which would help spread happiness among employees. The workshop also focused on the importance of praise and compliments at work, as well as listening carefully to colleagues, revealing positives, sharing opinions, evaluating initiatives, encouraging constructive criticism, and transparency which would reflect on the quality of provided services. This initiative falls within an integrated strategic plan, with a future-orientation that is based on covering several important topics listed on the committee’s agenda, such as family happiness, happiness in the work environment, and others."

The workshop was facilitated and presented by advisor Dr. Mohammed Al Marzouqi. It saw great interaction from female employees by initiating serious discussions in addition to raising many questions on a range of situations experienced by employees on a daily basis. Given the success and compliments received on the workshop by the participating female employees, the Eve Committee will soon organise a similar workshop for male employees.
