The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and the UN's Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, OCHA, in Abu Dhabi, today signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, marking the launch of a new partnership in line with the National Strategy on the #Year of Giving.
The MoU documents the strategic partnership between the UAE and OCHA in the exchange of experience and knowledge, the improvement and development of internal mechanisms, and the development of national capacities in the humanitarian field through workshops and seminars attended by international experts.
The initiative will also see the provision of expertise from agencies which specialise in humanitarian relief operations and urgent humanitarian response.
Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation, will oversee the implementation of the partnership, as part of her supervision of the Year of Giving’s fourth stage, under the banner, "The Developmental Role of Humanitarian Institutions".
