At least 15 people were killed Sunday in a bomb explosion near the defense headquarters in Mogadishu, reportedly targeting the new army chief.
Mohamed Dahir, a senior police officer at the scene, told Xhinua the explosion happened near the military headquarters, killing mostly civilians who were travelling in a mini bus.
"We can confirm the death of 15 people now. A vehicle loaded with explosives blew up near the military academy hitting a public service vehicle," said Dahir.
