The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) condemned the terrorist oil pipeline blast near Buri village.
It denounced the heinous act of sabotage which endangered lives, terrorised innocent people and targeted Bahrain’s national economy and vital interests.
NIHR described the blast as a gross violation of human rights.
“The inalienable right to a safe, clean, healthy and sustainable environment is an integral part of human rights”, it said.
In a statement, the institution voiced deep concerns over the oil pipeline blast which damaged several buildings and vehicles due to billowing smoke and heat.
The statement commended the strenuous efforts of the Civil Defence and Bapco safety teams, which evacuated affected people, provided them accommodation and contained the blaze.
It commended the Ministry of Interior for ensuring the safety of houses, protecting people and properties and putting out the fire quickly.
People whose rights were affected were urged to contact the institution via hotline 80001144, website www.nihr.org.bh or report to its headquarters in the Seef district, particularly people whose right to a clean environment was prejudiced.
