Russian President Vladimir Putin said his country will continue to develop its defensive capabilities and providing modern military technology especially that of strategic nuclear force.
During a meeting with senior Russian military officials, Putin added, "We will push ahead with improving the country’s defense potential and providing new generation weapons and hardware for all arms and services. In the first place this concerns the strategic nuclear force." He declared that by the end of 2020 the share of advanced weaponry in the strategic force was to exceed 60%, and by some parameters, 90%, TASS news agency reported.
Earlier today, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Russia was willing to discuss reducing nuclear weapons.
