An Omani woman has joined Oman Air as a senior official, a first for the airline company.
Asma Humaid Al Ghabshi has joined Oman Air as an executive vice president for Human Resources, and the landmark appointment marks the highest ranking for an Omani woman in the company.
Al Ghabshi expressed her excitement on getting the job, and encouraged young Omanis to strive high with their future goals.
“I hope to inspire, especially the younger generation of talent at Oman Air. My advice to them is to work hard and make it their mission to do their best so they can be proud of what they achieve and deliver. Being motivated and ready to challenge yourself is the best recipe to succeed,” she said.
Oman Air Chief Executive Officer Paul Gregorowitsch expressed pride at the appointment, and said he has great hopes for Al Ghabshi’s future.
“We are very proud to welcome Asma as our new Executive Vice President for HR. Her vast international experience and desire to introduce new staff-friendly HR initiatives is certain to not only yield great results, but inspire all our employees to achieve their full potential,” he said.
Al Ghabshi brings extensive and international experience to the job, having worked for Shell previously for 14 years, in diverse locations, such as Qatar, Egypt, the Netherlands, and her home country Oman.
“During her time with Shell, she had an incredibly positive impact on the company by undertaking a number of different roles within HR. She focused on learning and development, talent management, recruitment and led on a number of projects in the field of change management,” an Oman Air representative said.
Al Ghabshi also spoke about women’s unlimited potential, regardless of gender.
“As a woman, I believe that the work you do is far more important than what gender you are. Both men and women can certainly reach their potential when they strive to do so.”
Though Al Ghabshi joins Oman Air from a different sector, she hopes to start her position by immersing herself in the culture and inner workings of Oman Air, and learn more about the business and its employees.
