Press reports revealed today, Saturday, that Barcelona midfielder Pedri will not participate in his team's training session before its upcoming match against Villarreal, in the Spanish League.
Barcelona will be a heavy guest on Villarreal at 7:30 pm tomorrow, Sunday, at the “La Ceramica” stadium, as part of the sixth round of La Liga matches.
The Spanish newspaper Marca confirmed that Pedri did not participate with Barcelona in the group training session that concluded its preparations for the Villarreal match in La Liga.
She added that Casado also did not participate in the team's group training, as the duo only had a training session inside the gym at the end of the team's preparations for the upcoming match.
Marca explained that there was nothing serious that prevented the duo from participating in the last training session with Barcelona, but this was done in order to avoid any additional muscle strain, especially since they played almost everything since the beginning of the season.
Barcelona tops the standings with 15 points, after achieving full marks in the five matches the team has played so far, while Villarreal is in fourth place with 11 points, gained from winning three matches and drawing two matches.
Barcelona enters the match in high spirits after their 4-1 win over Girona in the previous round, and their continued lead in the league, four points ahead of their closest rivals.
German Hansi Flick, Barcelona's coach, seeks to benefit from the good results the team achieved in the league by achieving victory over Villarreal and adding three new points that will keep the team at the top of the standings.
On the other hand, Villarreal enters the match also high on their 2-1 win over Real Mallorca in the last round.
