Leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), Kim Jong Un, attended the 2012 New Year's concert on Sunday, the official news agency KCNA reported on Monday. According to the KCNA, the concert, named "The Cause of the Sun Will Be Immortal", was given by the Unhasu Orchestra on the occasion of the New Year. After the playing of the DPRK national anthem, the audience paid silent tribute to the country's late leader Kim Jong Il. Kim Jong Un, supreme commander of the Korean People's Army and supreme leader of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), state and army, waved back to the cheering performers and audiences after the concert. He thanked the performers and spoke highly of their successful performance, said the KCNA. He expressed the hope and belief that the whole party and army and all the people of the DPRK would make great innovations and a big leap forward again in the new year's march, said the report. Kim Yong Nam, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee and president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, Choe Yong Rim, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee and premier of the Cabinet, and a number of other senior officials were also present at the concert.
