Egyptian singer and actor Amira Fathy has voiced her confidence in Egypt's armed forces, saying she is proud of how the army sides with the people. Speaking to Arab Today, the performer wished the army every success in operations against armed militant groups in Sinai. "What happened on June 30 made us all realise how Egyptian can come together as one. I belong to the generation which hasn't witnessed any war or conflict since until now, so what happened brought back the patriotic spirit once again. "I have so much respect for Egyptian soldiers that I even took souvenir pictures with a few of them in Cairo recently. "They put their lives on the line for our country and I have 100% confidence in their ability to target extremists in Sinai," she concluded.
