Cairo - Marwa Yehia

'Arabstoday' readers have condemned the sentencing of Egyptian actor and comedian Adel Imam, saying the sentence was "against creativity". An opinion poll in the Entertainment page of 'Arabstoday' rated disapproval of the sentencing at 35.1 per cent, however the other opinion which believes that Adel Imam deserved the sentence was rated 20.6 per cent. Meanwhile, 17.3 per cent believed that it was a new start for religious rule after the domination of Islam on the current political scene in Egypt while 16.1 believed that Imam did not deserve the sentence. Producer Dr. Mohamed El-Adl, a member of the Egyptian Creativity Front, announced that the group will take firm action towards the sentence, saying: "Despite my clashes with Adel Imam, we'll not keep silent for long and we will hold an emergency meeting to follow the situation".
