The Egyptian scene is united before Morsi's decree. Basma has joined many artists to protest against the President. In an exclusive interview with Arabstoday, the actress said: "This decree is not constitutional, it is a dictatorial one. This declaration immunises the President, which makes him a dictator. The revolution ended the rule of Pharaohs." She insisted that the Egyptian people will not give up the fight and will not accept a dialogue until the decree is cancelled. Basma also responded to the insults against her by some Islamists: "I will not respond to these insults. They fear national unity and they are trying to distract us from our real cause. Basma participated in the million-man rally last Tuesday which demanded the cancellation of the constitutional decree.
