Glenn Beck has decided to try his hand at developing movies. The 50-year-old conservative radio host has a film division currently in the works at his company, Mercury Radio Arts. Beck tells The Hollywood Reporter that he is refurbishing a 72,000 sq. ft. facility in Irving, Texas to house the new division. The facility is presently called The Studios at Las Colinas, and JFK and RoboCop are among the films that have been shot at the location. The aspiring producer says he has three original stories in development and plans to make them into theatrical films. One story will be set in ancient times, the second in modern history, and the third will be a "faith-based" tale. Beck has also repurchased the rights to his 2008 book The Christmas Sweater, and plans to adapt the story into a television or theatrical movie. "I bought a movie studio for a reason," the radio host asserts. "I have every intent of finding great artists who will tell great stories that aren't typical." "Everybody thinks they know who I am because of my stint on Fox," he continues. "That was two years of my life. I'm much more into culture than I am into politics, and that's where I intend on making my stand." Beck considers Divergent, Lone Survivor, Moulin Rouge! and True Grit well-made films that inspire his filmmaking. He also loves The Lego Movie.
