Dubai - ArabsToday
Artist Jalal Al Tawil recently joined his fellow artists in voicing his opinion on Bashar Al Assad. Jalal is against the Bashar regime and demanded Bashar be overthrown, much like fellow artists Asala Nasri, Fares El Helou, May Skaf and Mohamed Al Rashi. He asked for the support of Homs which he believes is witnessing sectarian strife.   On Monday, Syrian websites opposed to the regime published the news of Jalal paying condolences to the families of victims who died in the protests. In the Al Qaboon neighborhood in Damascus, he cheered, “Long live Syria, Fall Bashar Al Assad … Long live Syria forever free.” The artist stressed that the “slaughtering” in Homs is caused by some Sectarian game and he chanted again, “One one one, the Syrian nation is one.” He called on all artists to join the protests and revolution, stating that “we all became artists because of you.” Jalil is the next in line among a number of artists (including Fares El Helou and Mohamed Al Rashi), writers, and intellectuals to pay condolences to these families.  “The Neighborhood Gate” actor received numerous messages of appreciation from his fans on his Facebook page. One of his fans wrote: “you deserve to be the sheriff of all neighborhoods.” Jalili has far-reaching talent as both an actor and teacher. He is a voice coach at the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts and an acting teacher at the Teatro Theatre. He won several awards including one for best actor for his role in The Tunnel in Philadelphia in 2005. Some of his work in TV dramas includes Invasion, Asmahan, My Grandfather’s House, Behind the Sun, and Abu Ghanti.
