Moroccan singer Jannat has stated that her legal status, with regard to the Ministry of Immigration, the Egyptian Musicians Syndicate, or the censorship authorities were all in order. She said she has been living in Egypt for the past six years, so it is normal that she would set straight all her documents. In a statement to Kuwaiti paper Al-Rai on Monday, Jannat stated she paid the Musicians Syndicate fees as an expatriate, and that there were complaints filed against her in this regard. She said she respected the Egyptian Musicians Syndicate and its president, Egyptian singer and musician Iman Al-Bahr Darwish, and was more than willing to present any required documents to the administration. The Moroccan singer stated that should there be any problem concerning her legal affairs and her stay in Egypt, it would not be a reason for her to leave the country, but should would simply work things out. She stressed that she would never leave the country where she lived for years and where she became a star. On a different note, Jannat said she is preparing for her new album, amid difficult production conditions due to the economic state in Egypt and the Arab world. For his part, media advisor at the Egyptian Musicians Syndicate Tarek Mortada stated that Syndicate head Darwish simply notified Jannat to make sure her legal documents were in order to avoid any future problems, for he believes she is a talented musician. The Musicians Syndicate had earlier sent a letter to Jannat asking her to handle her legal affairs in Egypt to avoid being deported. The letter was sent within the framework of procedures carried out with Arab artists living in Egypt.
