Cairo - Mustafa el-Queyas

Syrian singer Majd al-Kassem has told Arab Today that the Middle East music scene is crying out for a rising star after the so called Arab Spring, adding that interest in music has dropped significantly. Al-Kassem denied reports that his popularity has dipped due to a planned break from the industry after the release of his songs Ghamad eneik and Leebetak. The singer said that despite the financial crisis which had engulfed the music industry, he was able to produce an album of birthday songs for kids, to lift them after the Arab uprisings. The performer also told Arab Today that he would make his much-anticipated acting debut next Ramadan, after having turned down several acting offers.
