Stephen Colbert will get a chance to measure the curtains when he visits the Late Show on April 22. CBS said Tuesday that the Colbert Report host would visit the show as a guest, a week after the network chose Colbert to replace David Letterman when he retires in 2015. "Simply being a guest on David Letterman's show has been a highlight of my career," Cobert said when the announcement was made. "I never dreamed that I would follow in his footsteps, though everyone in late night follows Dave's lead. I'm thrilled and grateful that CBS chose me. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go grind a gap in my front teeth." Colbert's appearance next week will give CBS another chance to see how he plays with Letterman's audience. Network brass hasn't made it clear what kind of host Colbert will be. He's spent years playing a character on the Colbert Report, though he's unlikely to maintain that persona when he takes up the Late Show gig. CBS is reportedly hoping that Colbert will attract younger viewers, as Fallon did for the Tonight Show. Source: UPI
