Taysir Fahmy denies running for presidency

Egyptian actress, Taysir Fahmy, has expressed her anger over allegations that she intends  to run for presidency in the elections planned in June 2012. Taysir told Arabstoday "I don't know who the silly journalist is who faked this rumour. I don't deny that I'm concerned about the issue of electing a new president for Egypt, especially in this critical period the country is going through, but even if I'm to be named as a candidate, that will be a decision for the Equality and Development Party to take, not for me, I'm just the President of this party, which I launched with others shortly after the January 25 uprising". Taysir added "Running for this position is not a game contrary to what some people think.  I'm surprised by the massive number of candidates in just few days, which reflects a naive view from too many people towards this position." Several websites recently published the story about Taysir's  alleged intention to run for presidency, including some quotes justifying her alleged decision.
