Electricity Minister Mohamed Shaker said 1,707 megawatts will be added on Sunday to the national power grid as part of the ministry's plan to face summer loads.
The minister's remarks came in a ministry's statement on the occasion of opening the first unit of Ataqa power plant at a capacity of 160 megawatts.
The ministry has earlier said that 3,632 megawatts will be gradually added to the national power grid this summer at a total cost of 2.65 billion dollars.
