Egypt has chosen cooperation, construction and development among the Nile Basin countries, affirmed President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
"We have chosen confidence among each other and further cooperation for the sake of building and development," he added.
"I talk with you as an Egyptian citizen.. I say to our nations in Ethiopia and Sudan that we could sign several agreements, but the will may not be strong.. also, we could not need to sign agreements if we agree not to harm each other,'' Sisi said in impromptu remarks after reading his speech during the signing ceremony of the declaration of principles on the Ethiopian Renaissance Dam.
"We in Egypt have no reservations on the establishment of the Renaissance Dam as long as it does not affect the Egyptian people and their vital interests in water," Sisi said.
"For thousands of years, the Nile water has been flowing with God's order," he went on to say.
"We are starting a new era of cooperation, love and trust," he affirmed.
"We are confident that Ethiopia and Sudan are interested in cooperation," Sisi said.
"We could cooperate and accomplish great things or disagree and hurt each other…we have chosen to cooperate," he concluded.
