Kuwait is committed to the usage of environmental-friendly resources, said Kuwaiti Minister of Oil and Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs Dr. Ali Al-Omair here Sunday.
Al-Omair's statement came during the 26th session of the Arab ministers responsible for the environment currently being held here.
The Minister said that Kuwait's environmental commitment was in line with the Kuwaiti leadership's guidelines concerning the protection of the environment, noting that Kuwaiti legislators also passed laws on environment protection as well as penalties against those who harm the ecosystem.
Article 24/ 2014 of the law concerning the environment which was recently passed is also part of the country's development strategies for the upcoming five years, said the Minister.
Al-Omair also cited a ranking by the Universities of Yale and Columbia which cited that Kuwait made a huge leap from the 84th to the 42nd position within the ecological performance domain, noting that the ranking included 178 countries.
