The natural gas was delivered to 660,000 housing units by the end of December 2015, Petroleum Minister Tarek el Molla said on Thursday.
It is planned to deliver the gas to more 132,000 housing units in Minya, Assiut, Sohag, Qena, Luxor and Aswan governorates during the coming fiscal year, the minister told a meeting of the General Assembly of the Ganoub El-Wadi Petroleum Holding Company (Ganope).
A solar energy plant is being built at the administrative headquarters of the company in Aswan as part of a plan to expand the uses of the solar energy, he added.
