Dr. Rashid Ahmed bin Fahad, Minister of Environment and Water, has affirmed that the UAE, inspired by the UAE's Vision 2021 and the National Agenda, as well as the Strategic Plan of the country's wise government, is making progress towards achieving sustainable development goals.
Dr. Rashid added in a statement on the occasion of the world celebrating Earth Day, which falls on 22nd April each year, that the UAE has achieved important strides in this area through its identification and application of a set of innovative strategies and initiatives such as the Green Economy, Renewable Energy, Green Architecture, Sustainable Transport, Integrated Management of Water Resources, the Marine Environment and Waste Management, among others.
He explained that the response to the growing challenges facing the world today, especially climate change, calls for further research into innovative tools and methods and for concerted international efforts to be employed in order to achieve sustainable development at a global level.
