Brazilian lawmakers began voting Wednesday on whether to authorize a corruption trial for President Michel Temer.
The center-right leader says he is confident he can avoid becoming the country's second leader in 12 months to be forced from office. Voting began after nine hours of often angry debate in the lower house of congress.
