US President Donald Trump on Tuesday defended his decision to end an amnesty protecting from deportation 800,000 people brought to the United States illegally as minors, saying "American workers" must come first.
"Our first and highest priority in advancing immigration reform must be to improve jobs, wages and security for American workers and their families," Trump said in a written statement, after a decision to end the amnesty prompted an immediate outcry.
